SATORI OCEAN HOUSE, by John Hix

Enjoy the perfect island of St Lucia from this exclusive private house on the south east coast of the island.   Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway for two or an adventure filled holiday with close friends, Satori Ocean House will exceed your expectations.

The secluded setting of the House entices with endless views along the wild Atlantic coast, crashing waves and a deserted sandy beach just steps away. After a day exploring the coast or lounging by your private pool, retire to the roof-top patio, glass of wine in hand, as the sun dips below the horizon. A breathtaking blend of orange, pink, and purple will surround you, the moon and constellations your own personal Starry Night.

Satori Ocean House is located on a promontory overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on the rugged east coast of St Lucia.   The House is a beautifully designed concrete structure with minimalist spaces and delightful details. It was designed by Canadian architect  John Hix, owner of Hix Island House on Vieques, Puerto Rico, noted for his eco-friendly designs and inspiring structures which blend with the natural surroundings. Each room is open to the outside spaces through expansive doorways, inviting coastal breezes to waft through the house.  A pool encloses the entire south side of the house, giving each room its own private access.  Kitchen islands,  counters and floors are all polished concrete surfaces, continuing the  motif of the  concrete structure.

The modern architecture is softened by locally commissioned Balinese inspired furniture.

The eco-friendy design minimises energy use by capitalising on constant trade winds to cool the house.  The house collects rainwater and heats it with the sun.  Showers and sinks give the water back to the land where it sustains the indigenous flora surrounding the house.
